Abdominal wall correction (also called abdominoplasty or tummy tuck) is a popular procedure at Delta Clinic. If the abdomen shows an excess of skin, if there is too much fat or if the abdomen has sagged, then you could consider abdominoplasty.

What is abdominoplasty?

Abdominoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure in which the area between the pubis (pubic hill) and the ribs is treated. We remove the excess fat, move the navel if necessary and strengthen the abdominal muscles - also called reefing. Sometimes liposculpture is used to eliminate abnormal fat deposits on the sides.

Abdominal wall correction: for whom and how?

Abdominoplasty is not always possible. It is not a good solution for the so-called 'beer belly'. The aftermath of pregnancy can be a good reason for abdominoplasty, or if some extra weight has been added to the abdominal wall.

Abdominoplasty is performed under full anesthesia. The excess skin and fat around the lower and middle abdomen is removed. The procedure provides a tight abdominal contour, with a scar that is as small and invisible as possible, from flank to flank. The scar is inside region of the bikini bottom.

The doctors of the Delta Clinic will explain the technical side of the procedure in detail. Especially what happens to the navel sometimes causes confusion. In addition, they will explain the necessary aftercare, for example how the pressure bandage works, which you will have to wear for about six weeks. During the first check, the steri-strips and sutures are removed approximately 12 days after surgery.
